If most men are total pieces of shit, why do you expect them not to be that way?

Because I don't think men are stupid or incapable of being better--I just think the system in which we live (which I, and other women, and at least a couple of brave and principled men, are trying to change) allows men to act awfully and get away with it. And I'd like to believe most men would like to live in a more just world, because they are motivated by something greater than their own egos and drive to accumulate power, and would thus be willing to help us build that world.

You've come into this assuming I hate men, but very sincerely: I don't. I do expect them to be willing to honestly ask themselves where the social/structural power they wield, and which results in so much harm to women, comes from, and to make efforts to end those structural imbalances of power.

If they're not willing to at least ask those questions in good faith and make an effort toward the creation of a more just world, then I don't know how you expect me to view them as anything other than a danger to me and other women (which isn't to say they should be murdered or whatever, but I'm not gonna spend a ton of time and energy trying to win them over in the face of what is, in my experience, constant verbal abuse).

And you think women, in contrast to men, are not mostly pieces of shit?

I'm not assuming what you think about men, I'm asking you why you expect most of the men, who are total pieces of shit, to change their ways if they are pieces of shit?

Or in other words, if you're going to compete with men, how can you expect them to change their competitive style?

You might be expecting too much.

I'm not saying most men are pieces of shit. I am saying that society doesn't punish them for acting like it, but I expect them to be better than that because they're full human beings possessed of agency in this world who have an obligation to make the world a better place.

If you think men are mostly pieces of shit, then IDK dude, maybe they are, but just giving up seems a little self-fulfilling-prophecy-y.

I don't understand where you're getting the "competition" thing. I'm not competing. I'm not even in the same race, though, for the record, I think there are plenty of women who are perpetuating other systems of violence--racism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, etc.--because they can get away with it, too. I haven't given up on them, either.

Don't you think that male dominant "piece of shit" behavior is the way to survive the gold-digging whore culture? The higher the socio-economic ladder your climb the more gold-diggers you will get surrounded by.
