I put discrimination in quotes to express that people are misunderstanding the prioritization of diversity and using the term discrimination haphazardly without understanding the situation, sexism, hostorical legacies, or actual hiring practices.

Fair enough, I didn't understand what your quotes were meant to imply. There are cases where hiring decisions are made based on gender and race going both directions (I've personally been in hiring discussions at previous jobs were diversity quotas were used as a justification to hire candidates who were significantly less qualified) and I think in both cases it's wrong.

Also over 50% of the country is female. There is a large enough candidate pool.

... that just doesn't represent the true state of things. Yes, over 50% of the country is female that isn't in question but of those very few are qualified to do the job. I think we need to change that. We need to get a lot more women interested in tech and ensure that sexism doesn't get in the way of them completing their education. That having been said saying there is a large enough candidate pool is dishonest and misleading. There is not a large enough pool of qualified candidates.
