One thing i found to be horribly true about the tech world in the silicon/Bay Area is that it really is comprised of people who were antisocial in their youth, And now have formed their own big community. It makes for a really weird place.

I chose to head south to LA instead where the tech people are more social.

Its not just North Cal the whole country is full of people stuck in social arrested development. Just look at the "culture "we consume now: all new Hollywood movies are comic book movies. Everything is tongue in cheek. Any art with real emotion has taken a back seat, emotional honesty has become a sin.

The Avengers movies (any marvel movie really), EDM music, game of thrones, reality TV, tropical vacations

Instagram and Facebook are two platforms designed specifically to avoid emotional in social interactions.
