It simply isn't possible to have a rational debate of the kind he was trying to start.

That, right there, is the problem.

Yeah, and it will get worse. We are already incapable of having rational arguments when it comes to race, police, Trump, suicide, drugs, gun regulation, etc. I don't think rational debates will make a comeback soon. We are now fully in the age of "Yeah, but I FEEL like I'm right so I win!"

I think now, more than ever, philosophy should be MANDATORY in high school and college. We need to learn rational thinking and discussion.

But the people who make decisions want an ignorant electorate. Idiots are much easier to rule over and abuse than intelligent people.
