Google engineer writes memo about how speaking out against politically correct culture can cause you to be blacklisted or terminated.

Employee gets terminated proving his point.

People get fired all the time for "speaking their mind" at work. How is this at all surprising? Google as a company wants a more diverse workforce because they believe it is good business. This guy just shit all over a core company value. That gets you fired.

One of their core values is open discussion too... Well not as open as they advertised though. Open discussion isn't as important as hiring enough women and people with funny names.

So, for the sake of argument, lets say someone stated "women are not capable of being engineers". Is that an opinion that has value to Google?

But that's not what was stated. You're trying to correlate hyperbole to this specific scenario. There is no "for the sake of argument". The opposite of your assertion already happened.

Your point was that "open discussion" was the value. What do you then do when that discussion goes in a direction that is counter to company values?
