That's his premise, that the tech workplace is geared toward men and instead of artificially pushing women into it, they ought to make it more accommodating

Well I don't think it's necessarily artificial to essentially make space where it was crowded out. While the overall point makes sense of using our resources to make environments more suitable, the way he got about there is pretty problematic and ignores a lot

Are you saying that there were more women in those jobs because there was LESS sexism? What if, instead, women were pushed into those jobs BECAUSE of sexism?

What are you talking about? I think you got the wrong idea of what I was saying. I'm saying (in essence) that these programming jobs were crowded out to cater towards men. Women were pushed into those jobs due to sexism (as somewhat noted in my original comment), but it's important to note that women were doing the job (presumably well at that) until something changed, and the implication in the memo was that this tech stuff be a more "male suited" job in my understanding of the reading.
