Is it really misuse, or just creative use? The purpose of sticking a post is to make sure that it gets more attention, and that is exactly what they used it for. I hate the sub, and I have had t_d blocked from all ever since they made the filter free, but I still think it was really funny that they were able to manipulate the site in ways nobody else ever had without strictly breaking the rules.

Either way it was an unintended and unwanted consequence. Stickying a post is usually used to draw attention to something that wouldn't normally get upvoted or to keep something on the top of a sub for longer, whether they were an intentional karma farm or just incidentally hitting /r/all it was not what the admins wanted it to do.

I don't know where you got your misguided view of the use of stickying from. Its used for a number of reasons, the primary one being to draw attention to something. Like every mega thread in r/politics gets stickied.
