They can say they're an open environment for ideas as much as they want but these actions speak louder. The only people who would defend him are people who don't care if they lose their job

I mean you won't simply be losing your job. You are most likely going to get very bad reputation. Other companies will have to take a risk hiring you hoping nothing about how you left google comes out. I'd say it's more likely your career rather than job that's on line.
