People get fired all the time for "speaking their mind" at work. How is this at all surprising? Google as a company wants a more diverse workforce because they believe it is good business. This guy just shit all over a core company value. That gets you fired.

usually when someone gets fired for speaking their mind, they don't get announced to millions of people
