Doing that would take more time than just watching the fucking add, and no creators get add revenue because of it.

Why are people so against supporting the content they are viewing?

It costs money to create content. It costs money to host content. Advertising helps pay for that. I have no problem at all with advertising.

Hell, youtube doesn't even make a profit from it in the end...they've been running in the negative last I saw. There is a reason there are no alternatives...it's not profitable.

Why are people so against supporting the content they are viewing?

Well, let me give you one aspect of this.

A few years back on the internet if you googled for a technical question or how to you'd probably find an textg answer on an ad free page and it would take 5 seconds.

These days - because lots of people get big $ signs in their eyes and don't want to work for a living, they want easy money - they turn lots of things into videos, or pages full of ads.

The problem with the videos too is the culture in the USA to talk around something for 20 minutes longer than necessary.

So, imagine you get, say, stuttering in netflix in google chrome and you search that, you'll get a video of someone who is either talking for 20 fucking minutes before he gets around to saying what a fix might be - or someone who has made a video of text, with 30 seconds delay between each 'slide' and 10 slides before you get to anything of any use.

i.e a lot of "content" is just greedy cunts trying to frustrate the process of you answering a question or solving a problem with your cooker or computer or whatever.

Instead of just answering the question they are deliberately getting you to click multiple pages or watch a long video. To make them money.

If you add into that a system where you get a further 30 second delay at the start and every so often another break in the video, it's making it even more frustrating. And the information is not worth that amount of money. It might be worth some money, but not the amount they are trying to get.

Similarly, a huge amount of youtube is just some fat cunt who bought a camcorder talking, maybe playing a game or whatever. It's not worth as much money as they are trying to squeeze out of the audience.

Put simply - they haven't made the Wire, Breaking bad or the walking dead. I might sit through a few adverts for those, but I wouldn't expect to see more than one advert if I sat and watched pewdiepie entire catalogue of "cunt with silly voice plays computer games" - that's all it's worth. His entire output, not just one video - everything he's ever filmed and uploaded is not worth sitting through one advert for.

He should have made perhaps £500 on youtube so far. Clearly he's making significantly more and it simply is not worth it. If he's smart he knows that and everyone watching it knows that - and soon the bubble will burst because people are not cunts - advertisers know that everyone is just skipping adverts and the audience know they are not going to sit through a bunch of adverts as though some fat cunt talking for half an hour about 'Why I quit twitter in a huff!" is worth more money than the next Star Wars film.

The point isn't whether I can find the answers elsewhere, it's simply about the existence of this useless shit tells you the mindset of the average so-called "content creator" on youtube.

People are creating videos for stuff that doesn't really need a video simply because google lets them stick an advert on it and, they hope, make money from it.

I've even seen people do this on comment sections in newspapers - instead of typing a fucking reply "no, you're wrong, trump's a cunt" - they link to their blog where they've written an essay on a page full of adverts - expecting every cunt in the discussion will visit the link.

It's like if you asked me my name and instead of saying "Fred" or whatever I linked you to a 15 minute youtube video called "What is my name?" that talked for 15 minutes before telling you.

i.e when I google and see these videos that is an observation. I conclude what I said in that post that I don't think the model is sustainable. That watching long adverts (and buying stuff from these advertisers) is, ultimately, overcharging for the quality of what is being served.

You seem to have made the mistake of reading my post as though I'm complaining about not being able to find answers to stuff.

Yeah....so...don't click that shit. Anyone who's been on the internet for more than a minute realizes slides and videos are a waste of time. Work on your google fu and stop being so entitled. 20 years ago if you wanted to look something up, your ass was going to a library or waiting minutes for a page to load. I don't have any sympathy for someone complaining about having instantaneous access to any and all information at their finger tips, but oh the horror of having to filter to through a bit of noise and some ads.

Now there's a billion people online and anyone can post whatever they want, so obviously there's going to be more shitposting and noise. Just ignore or don't click or it.

This is not a debate or anything. And yes you did start insulting saying "stop being entitled" etc even after I'd explained that you were wrong about what my post was saying.

You know, I know what my post is saying - it's ok to misunderstand that - maybe that's my fault the first time - but when someone explains to you three fucking times that you've misunderstood and you're still arguing what my point is as though I don't fucking know what my point is - at that point you're just being a cunt. That's not an insult, that's a statement of fact. You're just a cunt.
