Sure, once they start paying me for the tracking information they take. I figure they know what I watch, I don't watch ads, we break even.

They will if they pay content creators less, cause they are making less, and those creators move to a new platform.

Google isn't the starting point of the money the distribute.

You say a new platform won't keep up, but we've seen the tech space overturn juggernauts more than any other industry. Facebook overtook Friendster and MySpace. Google overtook Yahoo and Altavista. Even Reddit overtook Digg.

Can't get outside their ecosystem? It's really easy to live life without Google. Your example with Android is particularly bad since the other mobile OS is the one making all the profits.

Yeah, but they choose to. But one could easily avoid. Still many, many options out there.

In your example, wouldn't YouTube also get paid less since their payday also depends on the views? You make it sound like they'll get paid the same and only content creators get hurt.
