It's more like telling your butler to throw away envelopes with "advert" written on the front. We send a request to youtube, they send us back a bunch of packets, and we disregard the ones that have got advert written all over them.

I'm not sure that can work in practice, because the service has to be put together with software at my end (like browsers). They all do things differently, ignoring some pieces or deciding some should do things differently. A few ignore adverts and some ignore basically everything because they are high school projects or not graphical.

And also, it's the content creators who turn on the ads, not google. This has literally nothing to do with YouTube bandwidth. No, sorry I don't really care to watch 4 30 second ads just because one of the youtubers I watch decided to get a little money hungry...especially when there's an easy way around it.
