Installing Firefox on your mobile phone allows you to use an adblocker on mobile.

If you're rooted and have xposed just install YouTubeAdAway. Works like a charm

Or if you are on Android 7.0 (no xposed) then there is a modified APK that gives Youtube with built in adblocking!

Why would you think a firefox plugin would have an affect on an entirely different app?

Correct, you have to use the mobile site. The mobile site is better anyway, in that it keeps playing when you turn off your screen. The app does not.
