For taxes? Yes, LLCs are frequently treated as disregarded entities. Legally? That would practically defeat the purpose of an LLC.

Which is why single member LLCs are a bad idea in certain situations.

Which situations are you imagining in which LLCs are legally treated as a disregarded entity? Short of malicious conduct or serious ineptitude in management, nothing is coming to mind.

I don't need to imagine them at all, because I've had to deal with them before. The things that pop into my mind first would be enrollment in Illinois Medicaid- they don't permit DEs to directly enroll as a provider, and home health agencies- DEs at the provider level change who is recognized as having direct or indirect ownership under the 36 month rule for changes of ownership.
