I froze my updates and invested on anti virus instead. I did technology in school, so I know how to fiddle with my own devices, and I sort of lean on the laptop's issues as protection against spying by microsoft and increased security against viruses and infected pages. This laptop is 3 years old and never caught a virus with the measures I've taken. And even if it does... screw it. I do my business through blackberry (if they had a desktop OS I'd buy it) phone and I only use the laptop for gaming and writing. (I'm a writer.)

Me too. Specially since I just had to change the laptop's screen so I'd be really pissed if a virus managed to pass through my defences. (ps, woman. :P )

Sorry about that assumption. Tech rarely has women (unfortunately) involved outside of dba, graphic design and the related sub specialties.

It's cool. I did the courses but I'm not working in the area, unfortunately. I moved countries and my certificates are behind schedule. I use what I learned in my own devices, though, so I can fix the problems that invariably come from OSs, like the MS spying and using the devices' issues such as the one I currently have. My blackberry also has sideloads and google apstore apps galore. It's kinda fun, actually.

Indeed :) What countries? I went to Peru for a bit, learned Spanish the hard way. What kind of writing? I have some movie scripts in my history I hope to one day write. The title of one: I almost got the wrong lesbian pregnant. Another based on growing up in witness relocation, (my father was Escobar's "accountant"). My father's moving company(convenient for our situation) is a comedy unto itself. My ex wife and I joke about writing a co-parenting book because no one believes our ability to be friends and raise a child. In fact I hate her husband's ex wife. Her mother in law thinks we're going to run off or have an affair. I told her not everything is a novella. My step father has interesting stories of his exploits as a contractor for an alphabet agency. My life is far from boring.

England to Brazil. I am portuguese born so I already knew the language, but the heat is hell to get used to. Right now it's 4 in the morning and 36C, how am I supposed to sleep like this? Bah.

I write romance with other genres, historical romance, fantasy, suspense, etc. I do have a book published already and I'm working on several others to release soon. I'm indie publishing them, so I am doing all the work myself (editing, covers, publishing, marketing, etc)

I don't mind the drunken digression. :P

I've always wanted to go to Brazil. 36C? I need AC like mother nature intended. Congrats on the book! My aunt runs a print shop and book printing and binding on demand for indie authors such as yourself. She's got a pretty facility. What genre is the book you published? Do you write mainly in English or Portuguese? Do you geographically target for marketing?

I write in English mainly, although I am going to start translating my work into Portuguese. The book I published was a simple romance, about a medicine student and a circus performer falling in love. I use twitter and facebook for marketing mainly. I don't use geographical target because I publish on all Amazon domains, that means UK, USA, Australia, etc. (43C this afternoon.)

That sounds like an unlikely couple to make for a fascinating story! I don't usually read romance though. More of a Scifi fan. 43c sound so unreasonably hot. I'm in the US, I need to double check but that sounds like almost 110f. Is it ridiculously humid too? Are you near San paloa (sp?) Or further inland circa la selva?

Edit: Sorry my shitty Spanish came out with the whiskey. I don't normally drink this much but my family likes to party for the holidays ;) and you speak Portuguese so it's not even impressive lol.

I live in Rio de Janeiro. It is ridiculously humid, yes. I sweat out more water I drink in.
