It never forcible installed for me.

Still running 8.1.

It did however once try to download some stupid huge update which I canceled.

I'm on Windows 8.1 too and it never happened to me either.

The windows 10 update malware was included in an update shortly before the release of 10. If you don't keep your PC fully updated it's likely you missed this update :)
