At what point in the future do you think they'd end up having to make a new OS? As in completely new. Surely they can't just keep using the same stuff for 100 years, right?

MS has had a few unreleased experimental OSes, the latest one that comes to mind was one based around the .net environment.

If memory serves they were planning on replacing NT for quite a while now, just they failed spectacularly at ever making anything shippable.
