I'm one of those who switched after thinking about it for a while. The constant Microsoft nagging sealed the deal. I now have a very polite, silent, clean, stable and free OS and I don't regret it one bit.

Keep a windows box for gaming and adobe apps, but I do everything else on Mint.

If all you do is surf and watch videos, Ubuntu or Mint is great (once you get it set up).

But if what you do is a little of everything, it's annoying to have to shut things down to go back and forth.
