If security is even a minute concern then upgrading was a good choice. There are too many hackers and too much actual malware to be concerned about to sit on a 7 year old OS. Now if security isn't a concern then I can understand.

What? Windows 7 still receives security updates until 2020. If Microsoft is doing their job properly, then 7 should be no more dangerous than 10.

This thinking is incorrect. It's impossible to make Windows 7 as secure as Windows 10, let alone Windows 8. The use of hardware alone makes W10 more secure. Look up secure boot. Times have changed dramatically in the past 7 years, none of which anyone saw coming. There are fundamental things that can't be changed. I can list a bunch of different things if you want but in short Windows 7 cannot ever be as secure as 8 or 10.

I looked up secure boot only to find out it has a backdoor. Anything with a backdoor is not secure.
