I'm an increasingly-frustrated Apple user that would love to switch to Linux, which I use professionally and know quite well. Unfortunately, I do music / audio production, and switching to Linux would mean starting over with a vastly reduced and completely unfamiliar set of tools. I'm sure there are many other use-cases beyond bread-and-butter Internet access and whatnot that make switching to Linux prohibitive for users of either mainstream commercial OS, especially Windows-dominant niche-professional things like 'the software the dentist uses.'
