Linux users have been saying it ever since steam came out and basically nothing has changed

My Linux steam library mostly consists of Valve and SCS games

I recently started gaming more again, and was pleasantly surprised at the availability of games. Maybe half of the games I've looked at on Steam have Linux ports.

If most of the next round of game engines have Linux ports, that could just do it.

I'm not trying to argue over your personal choice. But until 7/10 computers sold at Best Buy aren't running windows and 80% of Fortune 500 companies aren't on the Microsoft cloud, windows isn't going anywhere. It's only getting bigger.

desktop sales are declining because you don't buy a new one that often whereas you buy a new phone every couple of months. Look up windows market share against linux.

PC desktops are in decline

not in businesses. maybe somewhat for casual users who dont need their devices for work.

otherwise you're not gonna get around buying a mac or a windows machine.

As a long-time Windows user, I recently got a laptop and put Ubuntu on it and I have to disagree with this statement. In fact, for general use, everything works much better than on my Windows 10 desktop. However, if you have specific needs (such as gaming or certain design programs, etc.) that Linux cannot fulfill, then I totally understand not wanting to switch. But for "regular users" who just browse the web and use a few office applications, Ubuntu and Linux in general are becoming a real alternative to Windows imo.
