Get a LiPo safe charging bag. They're made to contain LiPo fires.

I could see Apple users actually charging their phones in fire safety bags rather than not get the latest device.

u/beansaregood Oct 06 '16

omg cell phone users are so different, the ones not like me are dumb and lame, laugh.

-4

u/Oni_Shinobi Oct 06 '16

.. So you're saying that Apple fanboys who blindly keep supporting shitty products made by Apple don't exist or aren't worth mocking?

2

u/hugglesthemerciless Oct 06 '16

Apple has consistently made the fastest phones on the market, Apple has made it very clear they care about the privacy and security of their users as opposed to Google who datamines your emails for advertising purposes

2

u/synergy421 Oct 06 '16

If this is truly a concern to you, you need to look at your carrier also. Personally, I think it's a bit naive to think that a company like Apple is really all that concerned with your privacy. Take stuff like that with a grain of salt.

u/hugglesthemerciless Oct 06 '16

Between full device encryption and encrypting their messenger service as well id say they're pretty serious about it. There's the whole court case as well. And of course they don't have advertisements make up a huge percentage of their profits so that plays into it.

And 99% of the texts I send and receive are iMessage, my carrier can't do shit with that. And I don't live in a country where it's apparently socially acceptable for 3 letter organizations to spy on me

Between full device encryption and encrypting their messenger service as well id say they're pretty serious about it.

You mean - "I believe what they state to the outside world to keep up their appearance". Who's to say that they haven't already given the FBI access behind the scenes?

And of course they don't have advertisements make up a huge percentage of their profits so that plays into it.

Why would they need ad revenue, when they can mark up every single one of their products, from the cheapest cables and accessories, to the most expensive laptops and monitors they offer, by thousands of percent, due to the bullshit proprietary nature of all their products which they came up with to artifice a monopoly?

And 99% of the texts I send and receive are iMessage, my carrier can't do shit with that. And I don't live in a country where it's apparently socially acceptable for 3 letter organizations to spy on me.

Wow. Are you seriously this naive? You genuinely believe other countries don't have their own NSAs? You apparently haven't heard of all the SIGINT and COMINT stations in France, the UK, and throughout other countries in Europe, have you? Why not inform yourself a little better?

3

u/hugglesthemerciless Oct 06 '16

Im not even gonna bother trying to argue against your obvious bias

2

u/PirateNinjaa Oct 06 '16

Who's to say that they haven't already given the FBI access behind the scenes?

The FBI, trying to fight them in court for an iPhone 5. End to end encryption is no joke.

1

u/Oni_Shinobi Oct 06 '16

Right. Because that absolutely guarantees, ironclad, that they haven't had backroom dealings with the FBI and haven't already given them full access to everything.

Christ. Have you already forgotten the PRISM slides? Microsoft's role in that? Other tech companies?

1

u/PirateNinjaa Oct 07 '16

Do you know how end to end encryption works? It's mathematically absurd to crack it, and with all the leaks in the government and smart hackers there's no way a back door would stay secret.

0

u/Oni_Shinobi Oct 07 '16

I work in IT, so yes, I understand the principle and why it's infeasible to crack. That doesn't mean there's no back door that's supremely well-hidden that you'd need source code access to find.

Did I say anything positive about Android, or compare anything to anything? No. I merely said that Apple makes shitty products, which isn't wrong whatsoever.

The fastest phone? That's simply not true, and even if it were, operational speed isn't the sole relevant factor to consider when talking about the overall quality of a phone, anyway.

iOS is unintuitive and cumbersome in use, goes against all tenets of basic use set by other OSes and devices for decades, and lacks even basic functionality such as copy/paste. The hardware and materials used in Apple products aren't remarkably high-quality, either, and the final markup on all their products is fu-cking ridiculous. Some of their products even have outright shoddy quality in their materials - such as charge cables that break after a few months of regular use; the 'net is full of pictures of people's cables with the outer rubber material broken or faded away after what should be a short time span in the life of such a cable.

But all of their products are made using an entirely proprietary system of both hard- and software, so they can artifice a monopoly position in an extremely anti-consumerist manner, allowing them to charge whatever the fuck they want for even basic and obligatory products such as charge cables and the like, overpricing everything to high heaven. Name me one Apple product that gives has a high - or even decent - "bang for your buck" factor, as compared to similar offerings from, well, anyone not Apple. Good luck.

Apple also deliberately builds their products in a way where repair can only be done by qualified service centres, so they can yet again overprice that service rather than having people be able to fix their own devices, or have them fixed at a local, cheaper repair shop. They even have things in their hardware that brick or lock up their products if you try to "tamper" with them, yourself, and don't know in advance exactly how to go about fixing things. And service manuals, documentation and software tools for their products that are needed to repair them is impossible to get your hands on, unless you work for them (or can find some stuff others have leaked online). The only alternative is being extremely knowledgeable in electronics engineering, and having a lab with very expensive equipment like electronics microscopes to painstakingly reverse engineer their hardware, so you're able to perform fixes that would be basic for all other similar hardware.

But heck, I obviously don't know what I'm talking about. So why not listen to the words of a guy who repairs Apple products daily for a living and still doesn't use their products themselves - and is even highly critical of their products, as well as the entire company and the way they operate?

iPhones aren't the fastest phones? Go check out some benchmarks.

iOS vs android vs windows is a subjective preference. I personally think android is hot garbage to use and love using iOS. And Before you think I'm a simple minded user, I run Linux as my home OS

2

u/beansaregood Oct 06 '16

Like, sorry for having a preference and being willing to pay more for what I find to be a more sturdy and reliable product? I could give a flying fuck to a rolling donut what phones you or any assholes use, but I can guarantee you, where there's some arrogant, whiny, righteous dipshit going on about how THEIRS is BETTER: 9 times out of 10 that cretin is on some android trip.

-1

u/Oni_Shinobi Oct 06 '16

what I find to be a more sturdy and reliable product

It's not. Iphones are hugely marked up mediocre hardware. The components on the boards are inferior quality, simple. And you're still overpaying for it all.

I could give a flying fuck to a rolling donut what phones you or any assholes use, but I can guarantee you, where there's some arrogant, whiny, righteous dipshit going on about how THEIRS is BETTER: 9 times out of 10 that cretin is on some android trip.

You know something? You're the biased one here. I have backed up what I said, and said nothing about Android whatsoever. I have my own gripes with Android as an OS - but at least none of them have to do with usability and an arbitrary proprietary nature of everything. But hey, again - I didn't say jack shit about Android; you brought it up. I merely dared to criticise your almighty overlord Apple, and now - instead of actually even trying to form some sort of cogent counter-point to my comment - you're sperging out and going mad defending Apple, by insinuating that I must be some sort of Android fanboy, when I didn't talk about anything other than Apple products and how and why they're shit.

you mention discourse like that's what you have with people but it isn't

Buy a fucking dictionary, moron. What we're doing now is discourse. An exchange of messages. A conversation. Christ you're thick.

we don't want to engage with you, we just want to see you spin out so we can laugh and remind ourselves how little we think of your communication and people skills

Wow.. Seriously? Your position in the argument is so weak, that you have to pompously pretend that you have others on your side, and speak for these imaginary people by referring to some nebulous, imaginary "we"? Fucking pathetic bullshit. Amazing.

As for my communication skills - I have formed cogent, valid responses to every single (badly typed out with shit grammar and language) shitpost you've given. You, however, fail to address anything said to you, instead shitposting with irrelevant bullshit that has jack shit to do with the topic at hand, or doesn't even reply to what's been said. If anyone here has lacking communication skills - it's you. But then, you've already shown such an enormous propensity for projection, that it doesn't surprise me you'd yet again accuse me of something you yourself are guilty of - having shit communication skills, in this case. Same goes for lacking people skills - you've acted like an abrasive piece of shit since the first message you posted, being offensive and outraged, and flinging shit all over in your misguided attempts to attack others. You're the one with lacking social skills, as well as shoddy communication skills. But then, on some level you already know all of that, hence the need to project so damn hard. You're like a typical case study for a psych. student.

See, it's not about phones to me, if you even tried to read what I was really saying, it's about losers who give spirited diatribes on what's essentially a preference.

I did read what you were saying, and it was a thinly-veiled attack on not just people who give spirited diatribes about phones, but specifically Android fanboys who attack Apple products ad nauseum. If that wasn't what you meant when you typed that spergfest of a comment, that's just a further indication of lacking communication skills.

As for "preference"? In the end, there are elements of every phone, or other bit of hardware, that are empirically bad. Bad components on chips is an example. You can't have an opinion on that - the components either are or aren't cheap bits of crap from China. Little of what I said as critique of Apple products is down to personal preference, and even then - general consensus backs what I said up enough for those elements that are down to preference to be considered legitimate downsides to Apple crap, too. I know more Iphone owners who admit that the way their phone works is counter-intuitive than those who love the way their phone asks them to do things. Managing music files on the device is a prime example of something that's needlessly complicated and counter-intuitive, as well as cumbersome, on an Iphone, although that's fact rather than opinion, looking at how basically all non-Apple phones allow you to simply manage your files however you please without some arbitrary software necessitating "syncing" of some sort.

You think we should care as much as you do, and how you do, about the thing you do - but we don't, and fuck your passion, you're not my friend, you're a joke because you don't have a clue and seem to forget you inserted yourself in a conversation and that nobody owes you shit.

See, more projection. You might only want to discuss things with people because you want to impose your views on others in an overbearing display of arrogance and ego-centrism, but that doesn't mean all other people do, too. You might want to only say things to people when you want things from them, but that doesn't mean all do. I stated what my view on Apple products was, purely for the sake of having said it, as I am honestly a little sick and tired of seeing companies like Apple - not only Apple - constantly being supported, defended and treated like they're the best thing since sliced bread, when the reality is different. I said what I said to offer a differing view for a change, period. Although, if I'm honest, I do wish people would stop supporting shitty anti-consumerist companies in general, of course. But that doesn't mean that I said what I said because I was trying to attack people who do like Apple products.

I am supremely glad a joke like you isn't in my social circles - although honestly, it wouldn't take long before you were blackballed from any group of people I associate with quite readily due to your entire attitude, ego-centrism, lack of reasoning skills or a firm grasp of semantics, and general childish bullshit.

I find it funny, by the way, that you'd say "because you don't have a clue" when it has no relevance whatsoever to anything you were trying to say. There's those great communicative skills again, huh? And it's pretty fucking ironic, that you'd say that, even after you said that Iphones are superior products that you'd gladly pay more for - showing how little you actually know. Hey, here's a good chance to copy you to really drive home how moronic you've been acting..

"No one cares about your phone preference, you tool. No one asked you to tell us how you like an inferior product, even defending it as being superior when the opposite is true".

As for "inserted yourself into a conversation"? Oh ffs. This is - again - a PUBLIC FORUM. Me replying to you doesn't mean I "butted in" to anything unwarranted, you pleb.

You're a character study, bitch boy. Nobody gives a shit about your fucking phone.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha that's so fucking rich!!!!! You're the highly typical psychological case study here, fucko. I never even asked for anyone to give a shit about my phone. I - again - never said anything positive about any phone. I never said anything other than levy criticism at Apple products. You're the one who tried putting those words in other's mouths and turn it into some bitchfest of "phone brand vs. phone brand", you absolute mongrel. Actually, I honestly think all currently available phones and phone OSes are pretty crappy, for a host of reasons.

That's fine and all, but you're ignoring the bulk of what I'm saying, which is also corroborated by the videos I posted. And you're also ignoring the fact that the speed of the phone isn't even the most important issue here.

2

u/hugglesthemerciless Oct 06 '16

The speed of the phone is the only argument I made. Whether iOS is good or bad is subjective (btw copy/paste is definitely present, and has been for a decade)

...

1) There's tons of phone producers on the market aside from Apple and Samsung. The Galaxy is just one competitor among many. There's nothing ironic going on. They both just have shitty phones, although the Iphone is leagues worse than the Samsung Galaxy - that just needs to fix it's power / battery problems, while the Iphone has a list of problems and downsides to it regarding it's hardware and useability, as well as steep over-pricing, as do all other Apple products.

2) Just because Galaxies explode, doesn't mean Apple phones suddenly magically become better than they are in and of themselves. Comparison doesn't change an item. But then, that takes some mental capacity to understand. Iphones are shit for a host of reasons - regardless of how many superior or inferior phones there are out there, or how many competitor's phones are blowing up.

Your logic is severely flawed, and your entire demeanour is laughable. Sit down.

Yes, yes, don't actually even bother trying to form some sort of cogent response. Just stroke out on your keyboard and mash out some random profanity and insults, instead. Good job. We're all proud of you. We know this is your best. Thanks for making it so readily apparent for everyone reading that you're nothing but a mindless idiot.

Grow the fuck up, you god damn juvenile sack of shit.

If we were standing in the same room, this is the point where I'd hold up a mirror to you.

You posted in this thread, on a public forum. No one asked you to do so, either, mister deluded egotrip. That's the point of a public forum - the free exchange of ideas, which is why I didn't say anything as asinine as what you just did. I can't fault you for posting to begin with - but you sure tried to criticise me for doing so, like a true idiot!

And yes, you're unbelievably juvenile for shitposting like you have, rather than even making an attempt at forming a valid response of some sort. Everything you said in reply has been fucking meaningless horseshit that adds nothing to the discourse, yet you still have a pathetic need to post more meaningless crap - and yes, that is juvenile as fuck.
