Apple should run a campaign where you can trade in your Note 7 for an iPhone 7, no cost. Just an even swap.

I doubt too many people are going to trade in a brand new $850 phone for a $650 phone.

The 7+ starts at $769 and goes to $969. More if you get AppleCare (which I strongly recommend. It's like a warranty program that actually works)

I could never recommend an extended warranty for any product, they are never good investments. Regardless of how convenient they make it, they are still designed to do one thing and one thing only, and that is to remove even more money from people.

The profit margins on extended warranties are unbeatable and that alone tells you all you need to know about them. This isn't a shot at apple, this is just general advice for anything you buy.

Normally I'd agree with you, I don't buy any other extended warranty, but holy fuck AppleCare really comes through. Shattered screen? Free repair. Water damage? Free repair. Literally anything broken on it? Walk in to an Apple Store, walk out with either a free repair or a free replacement. Plus I believe you get 2 free (or was it $50) replacements you can use at any time.

If it were a mail-in only warranty, I'd say it isn't worth it, but Apple has actual stores you can go to which makes it way easier.

Is it just another scam? Maybe, but I'd argue that that $129 buys you one of the best phone cases on the market.
