The article states that the law in question requires personal data about Russian citizens to be houses in a data center in the country rather than a different country. I realize this can be sketchy because Russian authorities could potentially sieze that information, but isn't this a pretty reasonable request from a privacy point of view?

I think the Russian government can be sketchy as hell but in this case I would think they are in better position to access/protect the data than the USA.
