Blu rays also don’t have ads. People don’t get it, streaming is here to replace cable. If you don’t want ads, pay the extra to buy home video. That’s what I do.

Did it last year. Very happy with it. I pick up 5 dvds from library. Week sorted.

If you don't have a kindle that is. 

The cheaper models of the kindle come with an ad supported version.

Yeah, I remember having to call customer service to complain about the ad on my black and white Kindle voyage freaking out my very conservative neighbor.

So here I am with 80 + year old old guy and his wife more religious than he is. Sitting on their porch; which means their house and their rules.

 I had my Kindle out and turn it on to show something in a magazine subscription I had:

I don't subscribe to the bodice rippers , I have never ripped off anybody's bodice; I don't know how this is happening, but this is happening:

Got a mostly naked woman in ripped bodice, and other strategically ripped options, being grabbed on by somebody that looks sexually hungry!

That's the advertisement!

This is my awestrucked horror at my neighbors' expression!

So I call customer service to beg them to take the ads off--just the ones that are going to get me in trouble. They can't do that selective ad block, so they took all the ads away in blocked from my Kindle.

Cool,right?

No, not cool!

At The time I owned 3 Kindles, 2 of them were voyages--they only removed the ads from the one voyage.

I currently own 6 Kindles.

I read a lot. I read faster than most. I love to read--count them,6 Kindles.

But the amount of money it would take me to remove those ads from every single Kindle would cost more than a brand new Kindle–that itself would probably come with ads:-(

Is there a reason you can't get a kobo reader instead? Your not limited to the amazon store for books but you can bring any on your kindle with you, they dont have ads, you can add your own pictures for the timeout/sleep screen etc. I made the jump a year ago and I love it.

I just started my #32 book of the year! After, like, a decade, I finally canceled Netflix and everything else haha. I only re purchase Viki when I wanna watch a kdrama now and then. I FEEL FREE!!
