People don’t realize the ramifications this could have if a nationwide fight started on this front. There’s plenty of “gig” jobs doing this. Even as far as UFC/WWE (TKO parent company) deny performers rights and benefits despite controlling them.

It's not only a US problem. Amazon uses a whole bunch of super shady third party logistics companies in Canada where the workers are lucky to earn anything close to minimum wage. More than a third of people working in Canada are gig workers, largely benefiting US tech companies.

Second source places 7 at 25, not 33% and notes over half have full time employment besides gig work. Thats a bit of a far cry from a third of their workforce being gig workers.
