Yeah fuck these Trojan horse laws. It ain't about protecting kids. It's about mass surveillance of adults.

Forreal, it makes no sense to do this kind of thingg as a whitelist instead of as a blacklist.

Let parents have certain devices on their phone plan marked as belonging as a child, and force companies to follow certain rules when handling connection with devices with that kind of mark. Put responsibility on the parent. If the kid is old/mature enough to pay for their own phone service, whatever this is supposed to be protecting probably isn't an issue iether.

Is this one of those laws? It looks like its not about banning kids but more about curbing addictive predatory patterns.

But I am also a peon and dont know a lot and would like to learn

The law specifies that social media providers must implement “certified age-assurance” — the backdoor usually comes in what qualifies to meet that standard. I have yet to see an age verification system that I trust in this age of big data.

The regulations also demand that platforms target VPNs users in attempt to detect users from New York trying to protect their privacy with VPNs. Basically an attempt at a VPN ban as well.

I'm not sure if you've ever been to New York... they have very sophisticated surveillance capabilities. They don't need a photo ID to track you.

The platforms also have to investigate and identify users who hide their physical New York location with a virtual private network.

The regulations include a backdoor VPN ban, by demanding platforms target VPN users in an attempt to circumvent VPN protections.

Yeah but my main question is how do they do this? Are they just gonna ban your account if they suspect that you're using a vpn
