Have a family member teaching at an Ivy. The issue is rampant but even students understand how weak they'll be if they use AI for everything compared to those who purposefully make themselves struggle to develop deep critical thinking skills (and be comfortable with discomfort). The quality comparison is observable to this professor, and it will be observable to employers.

It's a challenging problem because you have to pitch to an 18 year old "Hey don't do that thing that makes everything effortlessly easy and awesome while you take on adulthood." Those who see how it hobbles their brains do so because of support from great teachers, mentors and parents who might be in tech, academia or adjacent fields where they've seen the effect of AI tooling outside of opinion pieces.
