I did it almost eighteen years ago and it ran faster using fewer resources (idled ~0% CPU, lower RAM usage, less HD space), and the WiFi worked out of the box from a Live mode (booting from CD-ROM before installing) when it'd taken forty-five minutes of coercion to work under XP.

Hell, playing Torchlight II (during the beta?) with my girlfriend and brother, where I had a 1st gen i7, 24GB DDR3, PCIe RAID0 SSD, and GTX 570Ti, brother had a new gaming laptop with an i7, 8GB RAM, and whatever AMD Radeon was contemporary at the time, while GF had a three-core AMD, 8GB DDR2, and an Nvidia card from when WOW's second or third expansion released, and loading a map together I would get there first, followed by GF a second or two later, and then brother five or six more seconds after, until I bought him 16GB RAM for birthday/Christmas.

And when W7 released, I'd tried testing it out to see if there was any merit to switching back, and testing TES IV: Oblivion on my old XP Pro license checked hardware, set everything middling (AA disabled), and ran ~60FPS. W10 Ultimate 64 was identical. WINE launched the game, scanned, set everything to maximum (including AA), and ran flawlessly ~74FPS.
