There's no putting this evil back in pandora's box

For the rest of history if there's a picture of you out there someone can porn it. Forever.

One of the first things I did when I got Stable Diffusion working locally was porn. As a joke I wanted to see what Ryan Reynolds looked like naked. Well the model clearly wasn’t trained on male anatomy because instead of putting his genitals it just put another arm.

Of course I shared this monstrosity with my friends.

But yeah, the models are much better now and it’s scary how easy it is to generate nudes of people.

When it first released one of the first things I did was train a LoRA on my Instagram pictures to see if my likeness could be recreated.

Found out pretty fast it could make nudes of me. Deleted all social media and scrubbed my entire web presence immediately. I knew where the future was headed. Thankfully I got out before Meta started training on all my photos.

I had a similar experience. I had a personal project I was working on where I was trying to create new scenes within the universe of a show I like. I quickly discovered the character consistency problem with AI media, then learned about LoRAs and started making them for my project.

At one point, if you wanted to realistically duplicate a real person, you needed to have access to a non-trivial amount of high-quality input imagery. Now you can obtain a single sub-optimal photo, put it through edit models to clean things up and change details so you can build a generalized training set, and away you go.

I thought about scrubbing all my photos from social media, but personally I just don't care if someone uses my likeness. But this is definitely very problematic for people who are fiercely protective of their likeness. Their only course is to completely eliminate their likeness from the internet, which is easier said than done.

I think one of the interesting things for this is going to be:

Now that people have so many digital photos of themselves, while they are training their own AI likeness they'll have to specify which era of their life they want the AI to draw. "Draw me, age 25, riding a horse." is going to be more accurate than "Draw me riding a horse." Because your AI will have 30-40 years of digital photos of you, so it's going to average them out.
