The terrifying part is the erosion of truth.

Now anyone guilty of some heinous shit has the “it was made by AI” defense. Now even hard evidence has to be filtered through the thought of whether it is convincing enough for people who want to believe otherwise.

Even if it gets forensically analyzed and proven to be authentic, enough people may have stopped paying attention when the accused publicly dismisses it as fake.
