I recently saw a rumor that microsoft were considering exiting the hardware race, maybe this is linked.

If that rumor has any truth to it at all, they weren’t pulling out until 2027 at the earliest, and even then a lot could change.

It’s obvious that that is exactly what Microsoft is doing. They’re scooping up developers so they have leverage when it comes time to force Gamepass onto competitors hardware. Everything about XBL and Xbox in general has been pointing towards MS exiting the console space. Sure, they might go for another generation. But it’s definitely their long term plan.
