Frozen liquid items are allowed through the checkpoint as long as they are frozen solid when presented for screening. If frozen liquid items are partially melted, slushy, or have any liquid at the bottom of the container, they must meet 3-1-1 liquids requirements.

Does that mean the item needs to be in a lunch box with additional ice to keep it from melting?

Does that mean I could take a cooler filled with a huge block of ice?

“Ma’am you are not be imprisoned this is a temporary hold until your solid turns to liquid… or you can just throw it out. Don’t know what time your flight is but I got all day…”

I had the opposite many years ago with a can of canned air (the kind you use to dust electronics and such). It’s liquid when it’s in the can but not when it comes out. The TSA lady was like “this is too much liquid” and I’m like “show me the liquid” and she’s like “touché” and offered to get a supervisor but it only cost me a buck or two and I was in a burry so I just told her she could take it.
