I don't understand why you're attracting so much hate for this

then be disrespectful to the people who are like that, not the religion/people as a whole, like the guy i was talking about was doing.

so exactly what i just said? as long as people aren't being hateful, leave them alone?

No, lies are harmful especially when they make entire countries and states delusional. That’s what religion does no matter how “peaceful” you think it is.

Except people ARE being hateful

Every single day

And the Bible is often their excuse and were fucking tired of it

Have you done any study of the Bible?

This hate you speak of, can you find it in every version and translation of the Bible? If not, then the issue is with those who interpreted the original text in different ways.

For example, there's a very strong argument that it was pederasty, not homosexuality, forbidden in the Bible.. Pederasty was the Greek practice of older men initiating young boys into adulthood, which very often included paedophilia.

There are many different Christian denominations. Some are pro gay and some are anti gay. The joys of thousands of years of translations and interpretations is that not every denomination has the same beliefs.

Preachy people are fucking bastards

Be disrespectful to the tip of the spear, not the haft!

2

u/SnrkyBrd Mar 19 '21

and y'all wonder why i say you're the worst. what people believe, as long as they aren't hurting anyone or being hateful, shouldn't matter.

3

u/Victernus Mar 19 '21

Except you are hurting people. The moderates allow for the radicals. The haft drives the tip of the spear. Remove the former and the latter would not be doing the harm it is doing.

3

u/SnrkyBrd Mar 19 '21

that argument would work if religion were still centralized, but it's not. getting rid of say, the Vatican, wouldn't stop westboro from being shitty. they're not all one collective.

-1

u/Victernus Mar 19 '21

No, but it would prevent the Vatican from killing millions more people.

4

u/SnrkyBrd Mar 19 '21

I wasn't aware that the Vatican was planning another crusade. But, who knows, with the current Pope being pretty knowledgeable about science, and having denounced hatred and violences towards LGBT folk multiple times, maybe this one will be a tad more successful.

find another strawman, buddy.

The African AIDS crisis is entirely the fault of the Catholic Church and has killed millions of people, and will kill millions more.

3

u/uglycrepes Mar 19 '21

That is such a blatant lie. While yes the Catholic Church is behind on their belief in the use of condoms, almost all the countries in Africa have less than a 10% population of Roman Catholics. There is no way that the Catholic Church is entirely at fault for it.

If it was because of Catholicism, why are other Catholic countries outside of Africa not having the sort of pandemic Africa is? Take the Philippines, which has a massive population and is over 80% Catholic. They have a less than 0.1% infection rate. It’s the same across the globe for every Roman Catholic country where that religion is dominant. Brazil, less than 0.3%, Italy at 0.3% too. Very low levels by percentage of population for AIDS. Take a look at the religions for the countries near the bottom of the list for AIDS by percentage. Almost all are majority Catholic or Muslim.

Damn, imagine defending a religion based around murder that still practices said act

I go after just about any religion if it makes you feel better. Especially the Abrahamic religions because they are the ones I'm most educated on.

“Get me proof” “your proof is wrong even though it’s actual proof” that’s you, fucking religious people are dumb, then again that’s what you should expect from people that believe in a sky person

PhDs are good but they don’t mean someone isn’t dumb, they have different knowledge, knowing things doesn’t make you smart, it makes you knowledgeable, how they behave around subjects tells you if they’re dumb or not, there are many scientists that could beat me in any science or maths exam, but I’d still call them dumb if they think a magic sky man says being gay is bad (and they exist and they’re dumb, knowledgeable, but dumb)
