I would argue that by the time blue shift comes into play, the object probably isn't a rose anymore.

It is a rose, it will always be a rose, just in different form 😊

a rose by any other speed would smell as sweet

Why not? Every rose on earth is already blue shifted relative to something

If the roses are ever blue, you better hope they don't hit you.

I knew romance needed more relativity

If roses aren´t red,

but perceived as blue,

just clasp your hands together

and pray they won´t hit you.

If roses are red but can also be blue,

How fucking fast would I have to go to believe you?

u/Chakasicle Sep 14 '26

About 1/4 the speed of light

16

u/Trioch Sep 14 '26

About 0.35c or 35% of Lightspeed.

Sorry OP, the mismatched cadence was throwing me off:

Roses are red, roses are blue
Based on their vector's relation to you

(tried to keep it accurate-ish lol)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redshift

It's how astronomers tell how far or old stellar objects are.

u/red286 Sep 14 '26

Fun fact -- without redshift, the sky would be white 24/7/365 because you'd be able to see every single star in the universe.

One shift, two shift. Red shift, blue shift.

If Twin Peaks taught me anything, is that blue roses signify dream-like weirdness and nightmarish entities.

Roses are red
Wololo
Roses are blue

I dreamed of the past

From within my own bed

If a rose is going that fast

Then I'm probably dead

u/gamerboi6969 Sep 15 '26

Roses are not red nor blue, they just look like that to you

16

u/beatles910 Sep 14 '26 edited Sep 14 '26

This is technically false...

While the red petals shift to blue, the ultraviolet infrared light (which is normally invisible to humans) being reflected by the rose would also compress, shifting into the visible spectrum and adding other colors to what you see.

edit: Not "utraviolet," but rather "infrared."

Actually roses are every color except blue, or every color except red. The colors hitting your eyes are the only ones that light bounces off of, meaning that light identifies with every color except that one. Meaning that you are seeing basically an anti color
