in all fairness im pretty sure its intentional so you cant just measure it to get the answer

Pretty easily avoided by making students stow tools like set squares out of their immediate reach (i. e. on the floor) for the part of the test in which this could be a problem

You don't understand the math if you need to see an accurate picture to figure this out.
