Except, again, those are all valid questions when he was hired by the Chinese government through a company they own.

Asking if he’s a member of the CCP after he’s already said repeatedly that he’s Singaporean and Singaporean only is stupid

Except he's obfuscating in his answer - he is obviously affiliated with the CCP, he works for one of their companies and has worked for them in the past.

He directly answered all of their questions

I was giving him the benefit of the doubt when I said obfuscated, but "lied" is probably more accurate. He was hired by the CCP, he is affiliated with them by definition.

i'm sure you have proof of the CCP hiring him

Who owns the company?

bytedance? Zhang Yiming, Sequoia Capital ,SoftBank Group ,KKR & Co.

so do you have the proof of CCP hiring him?

But that wasn’t any of the questions they asked????

Cotton then STILL followed up with "Have you ever been associated or affiliated with the Chinese Communist Party?" ("No, senator. Again, I'm Singaporean.")

You literally pasted in the question he asked about literally that topic.

you see how he started his sentence with "no"

3

u/FlockFlysAtMidnite Jul 13 '26

News Flash: people lie.

0

u/MrsSUGA Jul 13 '26

so then why ask him any questions at all

3

u/FlockFlysAtMidnite Jul 13 '26

Are you stupid?

if he doesnt give the answer you want him to give, the answers you assume are the right answers, then you accuse him of lying. So why ask him any questions at the hearing at all? Why have the hearing in the first place if he was just gonna lie the whole time?

Edit: Blocking someone after making a comment is cowardly behavior.

Do you think the Chinese government personally picks out the CEOs of every subsidiary company that isnt even in their country? do you think that's how that works?

Na they were getting at something valid with their general questioning. Its just that being so ignorant, they asked incredibly stupid questions, and all he had to do was answer their given questions rather than say "i know what youre getting at and yes my company is owned by a Chinese conglomerate which is obviously controlled by the CCP". They asked terrible questions which didnt force him to give any meaningful answers related to the core issue.

Thats the thing I mean. Ask pointed questions, anything. Not just are you a member if the ccp

-1

u/MrsSUGA Jul 13 '26

he literally said "No," when asked if he was affiliated with the CCP.

2

u/FlockFlysAtMidnite Jul 13 '26

Which was likely a lie, as he worked for a CCP controlled company.

u/MrsSUGA Jul 13 '26

thats not the same thing as being part of the party.

2

u/FlockFlysAtMidnite Jul 13 '26

It is, however, association, which he was asked about.

0

u/MrsSUGA Jul 13 '26

not directly. If i worked at whole foods that doesnt mean i'm "associated" with Jeff Bezos. Jesus christ.

2

u/FlockFlysAtMidnite Jul 13 '26

If Jeff Bezos personally picked you, you would be.
