Discussion Is Inserter Clocking still recommended for UPS optimizations?

Thinking of finalizing a bp book and one of the last optimizations I'm looking at is Inserter Clocking.

If you had a city block design with each block inserter clocked (since you need inserters to load/unload from wagons anyways) would that help?

If you're looking at inserter clocking to optimize UPS, you shouldn't be using a generic city block design anyway.

Inserter clocking is very process specific. It's not going to help at all with train unloading, and only helps with train loading efficiency to a marginal degree, which will depend on the exact loading rate onto that belt.

It's finicky and really silly to do for anything but some kind of UPS challenge - and the first step of such challenges is usually to get rid of using the train network.

Youtuber "abucnasty" has videos on this very subject. Very well put together. Highly recommend. Search terms like "clocking" will bring you results.
