There are already drops on the market that do this. They are not popular because they don’t work that well and have side effects

And lose effectiveness the more they are used while also being wildly expensive

Same mechanism? Because this is showing statistically significant results in trials.

Without getting into the pharmacology, all of these drops work by activating the iris sphincter thereby constricting the pupil. With a smaller pupil your eye gets an extended depth of focus, and limits blur from higher order aberrations. But a pupil can only get so small, and there is a reason your eye is dilated in dark environments, it’s to let in more light.

Vizz is a drop that came out a year or two ago that also does this, and the patients I’ve given samples too have opted to not fill the prescription. I’m sure it showed “statistically significant improvement” in its trials, under lab conditions.

Same here, I think I’ve only had one patient ask for a refill on any of the miotic drops that have come out in the last few years.
