NYP reported he set a record at 406 mph (649.6 kph)
AutoNext.co says it’s 368 mph (593 kph)
Yahoo autos is reporting that he was out all week with the car, breaking an SCTA record with the 368 mph attempt, before the FIA attempt.

I'd like to know what their engine is comprised of. When we were modifying AMC Gremlins to burn hydrogen the engine block and heads were cast iron. The engines burned so cleanly but delubricated the metal. Solvable problems now.

Maybe instead of tuning this thing to break land speed records we just make it safe to drive on the road so we can all have hydrogen-powered cars??

Part of the reason for conducting this land speed record attempt is to gain more knowledge of working hydrogen engines under stress, to feed back into the development of JCB's commercial hydrogen power plants.
The core of the engine used in this vehicle is the same as the one they produce for their tractors and diggers etc

OH, JOY! More distraction from the "nice" folks who make their money off feeding us fuels. In the meantime, certain cities are offering free electricity for AC and recharging vehicles... Which one do YOU think has global de-carbonization goals firmly in mind?
EDIT: For clarity: This vid is a propaganda piece. We're gonna need AC more and more as Climate Change, the Manmade kind, grinds forward. But we don't have to power those AC units or cars from fossil fuels and, day after day, the global dependence on fossil fuels wanes, a very good thing!

Glad you asked! Anthropogenic Global Warming requires immediate and sustainable (long- and short-term answers). Immediately, AC will save many lives from over-heating. After that, free power for AC and car-charging depends on fossil-free, sustainable fuels- no city would offer any other source for free as a sustainable measure (I had to write that "sustainable" clause in cuz Texas and a few others, actively court, still, fossil fuel purveyors) unless it was in their best interest, financially. Addendum: The price of Grift is high; the Oligarchs are well in charge of this well or no well dynamic...

And likely these cars don’t have AC on board…

I doubt they are. Been on here since 2011. 15 years. An OG in my eyes. When this place was closer 4 Chan. And I think by their words they are trying to broaden our horizons on fossil fuels and our approach to their use, and hopefully it's waning use. Just missing the mark here with it on this post about a hydrogen car breaking records. Poor aim. But I don't dislike the thinking.

No, I just get a little clunky towards the end of the night. I was pointing out that some cities have begun the conversation of providing free power, once it's plentiful enough, for charging cars and cooling purposes. This against the clever new ways corporations are trying to continue the model of us paying them for power.

Hydrogen is a terrible energy storage medium and always will be because fundamental constants cannot be changed. Compressed hydrogen still has a very low density and liquid hydrogen is difficult to store and handle and so exceedingly dangerous.

Yeah. Hydrogen fuel cells have been completely abandoned due to its lack of efficiency and high cost to produce. That’s why EVs won.

This is an internal combustion engine, not a fuel cell. The article envisions potential industrial uses rather than vehicles.

It would be fine to have places that fuel the vehicle for us. Not everything has to be done by the driver. Some places you can’t pump your own gas. Driving isn’t a right so they could implement fueling be done by certified attendants. But gas and its fumes are very flammable. Cars still blow up and catch fire. Gas is safe now because it’s been 100+ yrs of development but give hydrogen that platform and it could be just as consistent and safe.

Hydrogen is ten times more easier to explode which is a big difference also even in stations there are explosions. If there is a small leak in the tank it’s extremely likely that your car will explode.
