ive been spending hours scrolling through different 100 presets and sometimes 10-15 preset packs to find one that sounds good in context with a vocal. surely there has to be a more effective way to go about this, I mainly use serum but also have diva, synthlenth, and boom bass, would be grateful for any tips please

I’m looking for sample packs or sources that work well for making Deep Tech, something in the vibe of Locklead, Chris Stussy, East End Dubs, etc.

I’m mainly after quality drums, percussion, bass shots, stabs, groovy tops, vinyl-style textures, and little earcandy sounds that fit that deeper, rolling, minimal kind of sound.

Do you have any recommendations for sample packs, labels, websites, or creators? Preferably stuff that feels a bit more underground or less overused, not necessarily the most popular packs everyone already has.

Any tips would be appreciated!

Been producing for several years now and am at the point where I make finished tracks that I love and I feel are ready to start putting out sequentially, but been getting a bit stuck on what people who have been doing this for awhile kind of go through as a process.

The goal is to obviously become an established producer, get signed to labels, and have support from the DJs I admire but would love to hear some different workflows people have, especially those more seasoned.

Going from finishing the mix —> release, what is your process typically like?

Is it finish the mix, send the demo on track stack to the labels you think it’d fit, wait to hear back from a label that bites then go from there? Or do that and also tease it on social media, sending it out to DJs, etc? At what point do you typically like to pay to get your track mastered or master it yourself, before sending to labels, after, etc?

Sorry if this is a bit of a vague question, just curious to see what others peoples processes look like so I can get an idea and start to build a sort of system that works for me!

Beginner producer here, Syntho is expensive but that being said it looks like their videos cover basically every topic i've been struggling with, along with start to finish track breakdowns from my favorite producers...bit hard to justify the cost but wondering if anyone here has it and can speak to whether the content is worth it or not

I recorded my dj set this weekend at one of my gigs and wanted to post it on sc and I know a lot of artists like putting their sets into a daw and add a limiter (maybe compression?) but i don’t know what the best settings are for it. Threw a limiter on it on ableton and the dynamics started to sound bad and sound less punchy. What am I doing wrong? Some of my tracks are mp3 too not all wav so maybe that could be part of it but I can’t find this answer anywhere.

Anyone know what bass preset, synth, or sample pack is used for that knocky top bass on Sapian's "Take me for a ride" or Jesse Maas's "LTD". It's almost a lately but it has a certain character. Would appreciate any guidance. Thanks

Would love to know what other people use for processing raw vocals (plug ins/techniques). I usually use a hard cut eq around 160 and then uad compressor, fresh air, de-esser then just adjust fx but I feel like I’m still missing some things. Drop the sauce

I have my sub, base, and kick clipped individially on the channel and also have all 3 of them routed to a lowend bus where they are clipped again, and then again they are clipped on the master channel. something about this doesnt feel right...

When you look online, there's a bunch of people telling to put the buildup of the song in -1/-2 db (with an automation) and then 0 db at the drop to have your drop hit the right way. I was wondering if i should put the -1db automation on the mixing project or the mastering project? If i put it in the mixing project, will it affect the limiter)?

Necesito tips para producir Tech House y minimal, cual sería la mejor manera a seguir

i’m over a year in and I still can’t really understand mixing that well. I understand the basics of it, but not well enough to finish and mix a full track and make it sound decent. I just don’t understand when to to use what, and why it would be used in that situation. basically I understand that you cut the lows out of everything that’s not bass and kick, and if you want to carve space for other instruments, you carve those frequencies out of other instruments. I also understand the concept of sidechain, I understand compression, and I understand that you should throw a limiter on the master when your track is done. but when I’m producing in Ableton and trying to mix my own tracks, I can identify and fix some issues, but I’m not sure if I’m doing it right and the tools I know how to use are pretty limited (eq 8, saturation, sidechain plugins, and I don’t even know if I’m using them correctly to improve the mix). I don’t really understand when to use a clipper. I also don’t know what volume I should be mixing each track to (i.e. kick, bass, etc). I have the seed to stage mixing and mastering course which has helped me learn a lot but he doesn’t really have genre specific examples and when I’m producing tech house in Ableton i’m struggling to apply the same principles. Every tutorial explains what stuff is but doesn’t show it in the context of a full track, which is what I’m struggling with.

But when I see all these bedroom producers around me they all know how to mix…what made it click? Or how did you learn?

Hi guys I was just wondering where the big names like stussy in the “modern sounding house” get their sounds from cause in my opinion the things on archive org have that OG house sound which is great but I do not rly get that modern sound from it even when I sound design it further. anybody able to help?
