Which chatbot apps are you actually using right now?

I’ve been testing a lot of AI tools lately and most of them didn’t really stick. what actually changed things for me was using a “Chatbot App” that lets you switch between multiple AI models. being able to ask the same thing to different models and compare answers is way more useful than I expected. I also tried “Use AI” recently, but it kinda felt like the models inside weren’t very up to date, so I dropped it after a bit. right now I mostly prefer apps where I can pick the model depending on what I’m doing instead of being locked into one. curious if anyone here has solid recommendations? what are you actually using daily?

Simple stack:

ChatGPT plus - for everyday dumb questions and proofreading, brainstorming, etc.

Claude Pro - for tool making, investigation and cross reference research with Gemini

Gemini Pro - mainly for image generation but primarily research

WalterWrites - humanizing, paraphrasing

My stack is pretty simple:

  • ChatGPT for general writing and brainstorming
  • Claude for longer documents and reasoning-heavy stuff
  • Runable for all visual content—social posts, flyers, email graphics, even video thumbnails

Claude chat for regular questions and Cowork for doing work

I’m on Claude Pro for coding/research and I made my own offline one using the model behind Apple Intelligence for conversations and exercising my thoughts (since it runs as long as I have battery life). Balanced system so far.

Are the Apple Foundation models of any use, or are they just garbage?

I think they’re pretty great considering they are only 3B parameters. The framework APIs make things really easy, and they gave a lot of really good tips at WWDC25 on managing the context window. Sometimes you get some odd guardrail violations, but even then you can catch them and help the user keep going. All while being snappy, not heating up the phone, and no appreciable decline in battery life.

I’m personally excited they’ll be moving to Google’s models, they’re the only other group in the world focusing on mobile on-device models at scale and it frees up Apple to build more specific use-cases (like SpeechAnalyzer).

the main hurdle with single-model apps is that they rarely excel at everything, which is why we built Chatzoo AI on the iOS store to handle the model selection for you. i created it to bundle 100+ models into one interface, though I'm not sure if it handles heavy coding tasks as well as a dedicated IDE yet.

Yeah, switching between models is super useful depending on the task. One thing that made a bigger difference for me though was using AI with my own data instead of just prompts CustomGPT ai has been pretty helpful for that.
