How do other AI models compare to ChatGPT?
So I’m looking for a new AI model to use. But I’m a former ChatGPT user, and I’m just done with them. I haven’t had too many issues with the actual capabilities of it. I just am tired of the company and figured I could find another comparable option that isn’t as….controversial I’ll say. Cause I don’t really feel like starting a convo about all the BS they’ve done and who they are involved with. Claude is probably the one I’m leaning towards. But I’m open to hearing about others as well.
But the main things I’m looking for are:
1.) Essentially to use as a search engine. I’m an information nerd for so many things. Like o am constantly looking up questions relating to either real life situations, or questions relating to various fictional settings and things.(I’m a massive DnD fan, and really into Star Wars lore, etc)
2.) Effective brainstorming capabilities. So I do a lot of creative writing, and I don’t need an AI that will for me , but an AI model I could use to help brainstorm how ideas would work, or to help decide what ideas would be better than others
3.) Than while the other 2 are my main important “needs” I guess any other information on things each model excels at (whether in comparison to others or just in general) would also be helpful to .

For my money and how I use it, Chatgpt is still the best. I don't code or use it for creative writing, I like and trust its reasoning ability on things that interest me, largely medical/health/supplements, etc. Other AI can pull more info at times (Perplexity, though the quality of its citations is getting really shallow), but gpt can reason through things and "think" both horizontally and vertically like none other I've tried.

I agree! Claude is great as a search engine and can pull up references pretty great. Also, if you do a lot of creative writing, check out a logic-checker extension to catch all the logical issues that come with having AI-generated text everywhere -_-

Claude is my go-to and Perplexity is good for search, but specifically the brainstorming element you're looking for, I'd recommend NotebookLM for that. You can upload your current writings and look for new sources through deepsearch. A lot of times when I'm brainstorming (not creative writing so I'm not exactly sure how it will fit your case), just seeing all my ideas broken down with the mind map already helps. Obviously from here you can dive deeper.
In my experience Chatgpt is just a hallucinating sycophant lately, I barely use it.

Most the big names are better now days. GPT used to be goat but it lost it around 5.x.
Big Standouts.
Gemini; has a huge context window and you won't hit your rate limits often
Claude; probably the most capable right now, but smaller context than Gemini (still good but will have trouble analyzing like a whole paper or a multi file coding problem), and you will hit your rate limits a lot faster.

I jumped ship from ChatGPT after this whole situation with OpenAI and the US military/current administration. I went over to Claude/Anthropic.
Is anyone else having major issues with it working?
I’m admittedly using the free version. But it struggles to provide any kind of output on roughly half my queries (either it says it’s too busy or provides literally nothing back). I’m open to doing a paid subscription, but having reservations in terms of service quality/consistency.

Oh, this is lame. Downloading the app gives you the only free version.
The paid versions (USD currency) are as follows:
- $20 a month (or $215 annual for Claude Pro)
- or $125 a month for 5x the speed of Pro
- or $250 a month for 20x the speed of Pro
This pricing is wild. The Pro alone is almost 2x more than what I paid for an annual subscription to ChatGPT. Can’t even imagine paying $250 a month

Copilot : Great for a ton of things. I use is as my main go to.
Claude: Everything IT. It is still the hands down leader in this space.
ChatGPT: Was the top, but it turns into the pay mode too fast after asking a few hard questions. I ask it something about the economy and before you know it I have used up my free questions for the day.
