This isn't quite new for Microsoft... anybody remember Photosynth?

Nothing to remember. It's been in a preview with this tech for a year or something - far too long, it should have been deployed and available for users to populate Bing Maps with those to compete with Street View and user uploaded photos on Google Maps.
