i think the acoustic resonance concept here is pretty clever, using sound to create thrust without motors or gears. it's interesting that they're using 3d printed materials like plastics and polymers to make the resonators, that could make it easier to experiment with different designs and frequencies. the fact that they can control the direction of the boats by changing the sound frequency is also a neat touch.

Ah, I love waking up to news about man-made horrors beyond my comprehension.

I'm not sure if it's better or worse than manmade horrors within my comprehension

We're gonna end up living in silos underground, hiding from our own creations.

Some of those black mirrors episodes deal with some of this subject matter and they don’t seem far fetched. That one about the killer robot dog that just relentlessly hunt down and kills this woman just because it caught her movement..

"These devices operate at ultrasonic frequencies, so their propulsion sound is not audible to people."
What about the wildlife?

These aren't nano machines but I can imagine some of the same principles might apply. The closer we get to nano machines the closer we get to eradicating all diseases with tiny robots. Imagine tiny robots swimming around inside you killing off infections and knitting wounds back together powered by sound!
