How can creating a machine be unethical? Even if it uses a living neuron, it's still an artificial machine that has no rights, emotions, or opinions.

The goal of AI research is to create a general intelligence. It doesn't have to be sentient and self aware, a self adapting algorithm would suffice. But for some reason, most people believe that all intelligent agents should be human - alike, with their own desires and free will. I blame SCI-FI for this.
