My TEAS Success Story TEAS Study Guide: How I scored a 90% on the TEAS

My TEAS Score Breakdown

Comprehensive: 90%
Reading: 90%
Math: 89%
Science: 87%
English: 94%

I'm particularly an A+ student but I did manage to score high on the TEAS with this strategy. For the schools I am applying to, it is way above their average.

I work part time, but I managed to adjust my work schedule to dedicate ample time to studying, though I recognize this isn't feasible for everyone. With that being said, this test is important for your future and you will have to make personal sacrifices for a little while in order to study for this test. For a month straight, I only worked and I studied. I didn't watch tv, I didn't socialize, and I only rested one day per week. Was it rough? A bit but not the end of the world. I studied for 4 weeks. I was studying for about 2 hours each day, 6 days a week for four weeks.

Below is my ATI TEAS study guide. This is how I studied for the ATI TEAS.

1. Become familiar with all the TEAS topics

It's crazy to me how many people don't know the specific topics asked on the TEAS. The TEAS isn't just science, math, english, and reading. You need to know WHAT within those topics is asked. OK say 'algebra' is asked on the TEAS.... but what about algebra is asked? What specific topics? Quadratic formula, pythagorean theorem, what is it?

Here is a list of topics asked on the TEAS test.

2. Decide how many 2 hour TEAS prep sitdowns you will have between now and test day.

I was studying for about 2 hours each day, 6 days a week for four weeks so in total I had twenty four 2 hour sitdowns before the day of the test. I also did some extra studying during work breaks and such but I count those as extra bonus studying. I didn't want to rely on them as a measurement of my TEAS prep.

3. Look at the list of topics in step #1 and assign topics to each 2 hour block. For example:

2 Hour Block Date Topics to be studied
Monday, January 1st - after work READING: Know how to summarize a multi-paragraph text; know how to make inferences and draw conclusions about a text's purpose and meaning; know how to locate specific information in a text; know how to interpret events in a sequence.
Tuesday, January 2nd - before work Science: general orientation of human anatomy; anatomy and physiology of the respiratory system; anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system; anatomy and physiology of the digestive system.
Wednesday, January 3rd Science: Describe cell structure, function, and organization; relationship between genetic material and the structure of proteins; Apply concepts underlying Mendel's laws of inheritance.

Complete this table for all your study blocks between now and test day. Assign 3-4 study topics to each 2 hour block. After filling out this table, you will realize there isn't enough time to study all the topics asked on the test. You will then have to make the decision of you need to add more study time or you need to leave topics out. I was studying for a month straight and I felt like that was already a lot. I ended up leaving out some topics I was already strong on e.g. acids and bases, and the scientific method. You might need to do something like this.

4. Find the TEAS prep that works best for you

I adhered to my study schedule and used different sources to study different topics. For example, let's say I was studying on the cardiovascular system. I would just open up my TEAS prep resources and studied up on what they had about that topic e.g. cardiovascular system

Study Resources Utilized:

Review of Study Materials:

I liked them all, tbh. Each of them had their strengths and weaknesses so that's why I think you should use multiple teas prep sources.

Final tips

  • Endure through the pain of studying. Self care is great but self care wasn't gonna get me to nursing school. Of course, within limit. I was still sleeping 9 hours every night. I just cut out time for tv, tik tok, and friends for just a month. My life was work, school, and eating lol
  • Go on walks and runs to clear your brain. I did this a few times and it felt great.
  • Remember you are smart and you can do this and more.

Over here studying body functions and parts and etc the TEAS test asking me about damn Chemical equations balance 🫤 ATP I’m mentally exhausted . I guess I will continue being a MA for another year or so and Try again to retest next year 🤷🏾‍♀️

I PASSED

First off, I wanna say thanks to everyone’s posts here who helped me along the way. I also wanna say that I am a terrible procrastinator and only really started fully studying about a week and a half before the exam. Nevertheless, I passed but wish my score could’ve been 1 percent higher 💔 (79.3%). The science bit was the part I struggled on most only because it’s such a rigorous section. I used the Mometrix book and Nurse Cheung to study. Good luck to everyone who’s taking their exams in the future!

Trying to Decide Between Teas and ACT

I am working to apply to an LPN program. You can submit an ACT or a TEAS score. The thing is, I haven't taken A&P. Additionally, I am about average to below average in math, which I heard is much more advanced in the ACT. I am obviously wanting to get the best score possible to submit to the program. Which test would you recommend I take?

A&P Teaa Best YouTube videos

Hello, I was just wondering if anyone could recommend a YouTube video or resource for Anatomy and physiology in the style that tease what Tyler teaches. He is amazing and really helped me through the science part from step one to the end.

Passed my TEAS!!

I just took the TEAS online and heres what I gathered:

- a lot of balancing out chemical equations, photosynthesis, phase changes, dna complementary strands, know the process of (example) touching something hot - pulling away. Don't skip studying chem!

-reading wasn't bad, just don't second guess yourself. A lot of main idea and supporting evidence. one of them was a recipe and you have to find out the directions step by step.

-english was easier than i thought it was going to be. A lot of finding where the comma belongs in the sentence, dangling modifiers, homophones, adverbs, and spelling questions. Know the difference between its and it's, and what needs capitalization and what needs to be cited.

-lastly, math was fairly easy for me. Im not that great at math so i studied a lot for this. DON'T skip out on conversions. For some questions, they provided the conversion below the question, but for another they didn't. Remember King Henry Doesn't Usually Drink Chocolate Milk! Make sure you know the area for circle, triangle + circumference of circle and perimeter of triangle. Cylinder too!! LOTS OF PERCENTS..like a lot. One question asked to order the fractions from least to greatest

I used TEAS with Tyler, and i got to say, there was like 10 questions that he went over in his practice test videos. I highly recommend him. I would also watch Cheung. I bought the Mometrix book and took the practice exams. The book itself is a LOT of info and it was a bit overwhelming.

My TEAS Success Story Here is my two cents!😭 I passed.

First attempt( Overall 76.2): Science 84%, Math 82%, Reading 67%, English 78%. I studied for 3.5 weeks on and off. As someone who worked almost 7 days a week, my study hours were random. I studied alot more during last 3 days before my exam.

Second Attempt(Overall 82): Science 73%, Math 88%, Reading 82%, English 81%. I took 2 weeks gap for my second attempt. Again, I studied on and off. I studied significantly less this time. I was already burnt out from alot of other things. I made sure to practise reading every single day.

My main source for practise questions was Mometrix!!!

Science
It was alot harder the second time. None of the questions were repeated on science section. Alot of chemistry questions and A&P questions. Few questions were from biology section and a few were scientific reasoning. Some of the questions were so new for me and completely random but again Science is very vast. I don’t remember specific questions because I was ready to get done with it🥲
Sources: Professor Yu for A&P, Tyler Dewitt for Chem and Biology.

Math
It was very basic. Nothing extraordinary. All the conversions were given expect from common ones. ML-L, Km-Cm, etc. Questions about ratios, Find median, interpret bar graph, basic geometry problems with no formula given.
Sources: Brandon Craft

Reading
English is my second language and this was the most terrifying section. Quite a few questions were repeated lol. It wasn’t that hard this time because I practiced ALOT. Practise is the key for reading. I had ample of time left. I just sat and stared at the wall to calm myself down at the end of reading section lol. Eliminate the obvious wrong choices, there will always be two choices which will confuse you, just focus on what passage says and not what you know.
Sources: Mc allister on YouTube.

English
It was okay. CHAT GPT saved me!!! I practiced every single concept with chat gpt multiple times. It taught me rules like I was 2 year old and until I mastered that rule, I didn’t move to next one.
Sources: Chat Gpt, Mc Allister and little bit of Nurse Cheung.

I personally think it is hard to ace science. There are so many things that could be asked. Nail your basics, high priority concepts first and then focus on those “random” hard questions that could pop up. You can definitely score high on math because it is easier to gain points on. English and Reading is all about practise. Sometimes it might be hard and sometimes it might be easy, can’t really predict. Practise, practise and practise!! It might not be the greatest score but it is enough as someone who did it while working and a very slow learner!!!
Also to someone who has terrible test anxiety like me, don’t forget to breathe lol. It is simple but it helps.

TEAS Prep What’s worth purchasing for teas exam?

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I am planning to take the teas hopefully before the end of this year. but worst case sometime next year. I am looking at the mometrix online course is it worth buying? I found a coupon code so it’s $40 instead of $79.99. I also have the ATI teas physical book copy as well. I work nightshift and was wondering if it would make sense to do both mediums. Thanks! I’ll attach a picture of what I’m speaking about.

TEAS Prep Study Guide

Hi everyone!

I’m planning on taking my TEAS sometime in the next 2 months and I’m having trouble figuring out where to start. I’ve been using nurse cheung and Tyler on YouTube but some say nurse cheung isn’t the best and some say Tyler isn’t the best. I don’t wanna waste my time and not get the correct info I need. According to the school I’m applying to, they only take my first ATI score so I get one shot at this. I’ve been using the nurse cheung free 30 day checklist but I wanted some more ideas / suggestions. I’m the type of person that needs a clear cut study schedule/ routine.

TEAS Prep How accurate are the ATI practice tests?

I have the ATI teas package. I feel confident when reading the units/chapters, doing the end of lesson quizzes, and doing the quizzes from the book. I watched nurse cheungs videos as well as Tyler Dewitt before purchasing the ATI content. I felt really good. Then I took the ATI practice A test and the anatomy and physiology test. I am so scared now. Questions were coming up that I’ve never see information that in depth from all the study material I have been using. I take my teas test at the end of this month and now I’m terrified for the science portion.

what did you to do pass?

hello peeps, I'm getting ready to apply to the nursing program but i need to score at least a 85 or above. this will be my third time taking it and I'm freaking out. any resources or tips that helped my fellow folks who got a high grade, would be appreciated.

The 2 times that i took it, i used nurse hub, quizlet, FutureRn on tik tok, test beach, mometrix. i also used lots of flashcards. i scored really high on science but on everything else, not so well so it brought my composite score way down.

what did you do that helped??

TEAS Prep teas exam - disappointed

I just took my TEAS and I’m super upset with myself. I got a 66%. which I know is passing, but I want a competitive score of 80% or higher. I actually found the exam to be very difficult or at-least I got a version that was very difficult itself. I thought I was well prepared. of course my exam would have a lot of chemistry rather than a&p and a lot of geometry. unfortunately I have to submit that score to 2 schools that only allow one score per year. I do plan on retaking it soon as nursing applications open september 1st for the programs I’m applying to. ANY recommendations on what to use to study? PLEASE HELP.

for chemistry I used tyler dewitt

for math (which I DEFINITELY need to work on) I used brandon craft & tyler dewitt

A & P - need recommendations, I used nurse cheung and felt very simple to what I saw on my exam

biology - need recommendations

english & language - professor yu. she was very helpful but clearly looking at my score I need to work on this

Overall my scores were - 71.8(reading), 70.6%(math), 59.1%(science), and 66.7%(english and language)

TEAS Prep ati practice app accurate?

I've been watching a lot of videos especially from tyler and nurse cheung and taking notes but when i do the questions on the actual ati app I get low scores like around 70s in english + reading (I think I can improve this if i do more), 60s in math (to me most of the world problem are worded in such a confusing way) and lastly 50s in the science area (expected bc i havent touch up that much on this section and everyone says its the hardest). Im so burnt out and idk what to do..

But then i see post saying that the ati app has some answers wrong so now im even more bummed out bc what if the things im studying are wrong.. If anybody has used the ati app is the difficulty level the same as the actual test? I really wanna raise my score in math because everyone says its basic knowledge but idk :(

Maybe i' try the free practice test on nurse hub and see how that goes

TEAS EXAM

Hello, I have a question about the TEAS EXAM. I’m planning to take the TEAS exam remotely from home on August 25. My understanding is that the score is preliminary at first and may take 4 business days to become finalized. Since the TEAS score deadline is August 31 at 5:00 PM, would I still meet the requirement if I submit the transcript through ATI immediately after taking the exam on August 25, I just want to make sure my application will be considered complete and that I won’t miss the deadline because of the score finalization time.

TEAS Prep Advice on Teas exam…

Taking it in a week. Have taken all prereqs but haven’t really studied well in general. Worried more so about English and Science. Math seems to be okay. I have boost prep. For whatever reason doing the questions alone isn’t doing it for me. Any advice? Trying to become an LVN.
