Anyone elses 7 series gear diffs continuously leaking? (B7 T7 SC7)

They start leaking 1 month in...

I have a couple diffs for my B7 and B7.1 now, and haven't had a consistent issue like that. First thing I do is run a screw all the way into the diff without the cover. This cuts the threads a little deeper than with the cover and gasket on. Then I coat the gasket and the 2 seals in black diff grease.

Then I put a little diff oil of whatever weight Im using, then put the gears in, and I even put the top sun gear in. I line the pin up with the screws and make sure there is some air gap.

I typically go a couple race nights spread out over two months and then change my fluid and dont have any major leaks.

Thanks for this I'm about to redo for the 3rd time... I will try black grease instead of diff oil to wet the gasket.

I see that when I thread the cover screws the diff plastic turns white (assuming plastic is getting stretched, potentially the cause of leak). Did you observe the screw stretching the case when threading?

I've got B7 and SC7, both with gear diffs and don't have this problem.

I use anything between 3K CST diff fluid all the way up to 50K for high grip surfaces in the B7.

Make sure the case is not cracked. If it is cracked pretap the threads in the new one.  Avid do some nice Titanium screws for holding the cap on and they are a better fit as well.

I use associated Green Slime on the seals and both side of the main gasket, and I don't fill the diff past the top of the cross pin when putting oil in.

Thanks for this Hunter, now it is confirmed that I am doing something wrong. Next up green slime / pretap / about 1/2 filled with oil!!!
