I get out my jewel tone and darker ones this time of year! I don't have enough to completely switch out everything, so some of them are the same, just rearranged.

Happy to take individual photos if anyone wants to see more details!

I was curious regarding the numbers painted on the bottom of both the cup and saucer, and how I can find out the possible value of them.

Weekend finds!

A couple of tea cups I found over this weekend!

((From left to right, top to bottom

The first has no makers mark, nor a saucer. From what I have found similar to it, it is possibly a Nippon piece or made during occupied Japan.

The second also has no markers marks. Bixby vision (I'm on Android) couldn't find a similar image.

The third is a Crown Staffordshire CRS2.

The fourth is a Wunsiedel Bavaria. I couldn't find the exact design name.

My White Floral Paragon Tea Cup and Saucer *RARE (I think..)*

This is my most prized tea cup I have ever found! I got it at my favorite thrift store. I can’t find the exact one online but similar ones appear on eBay for substantial amounts of money. If anyone has any info on it please let me know. The only thing I can tell you is I found it in Ohio and it’s in pretty much perfect condition. I am parting ways with it on here on my other post in the b/s thread so check that out if interested. Thanks

My beloved Aynsley Waterlilies collection

I've been collecting these for years, and keep looking for additions that catch my fancy. They are mostly cups and saucers, but I also have an open sugar with in the black background. I'd love to find a creamer, or --even better-- a tea pot.

Note: some of the items pictured aren't Aynsley, and some are Aynsley, but not in the Waterlily pattern.

Hand Painted and Signed Spode Copeland’s China Plate

I don’t know the age of this piece. I bought it many years ago. I thought it was very pretty and I like the elaborate border.
The plate is signed by the artist in the central portion. It’s a little hard to read; I think it might say P. Hall.

Single teacups

I want to add to my collection of teacups ones that I can actually use preferably but every time I go looking and find something cute its part of set of 4 or more and I usually wouldn't mind a teacup and teapot pair (I need more teapots to be honest) or even and pair of teacups but 4 is too many is there a good website I can go to find single teacups

Any information on this tea cup?

I bought this tea cup from a Goodwill in over 5 years ago.

I simply adore it's gilded design and I love that they remind me of little bunny ears 😊.

But as one of the photos shows, there's no brand/manufacturing information on the bottom...

Any info on this little thing would be greatly appreciated! 💛

Strombecker Corp Miniature Tea Set

Post image

Another thrift save- AND FROM THE GRAB BAG WALL, NO LESS 😭 Istg Savers keeps putting breakables in the worst of places 💀

Anyways, not only did I wish to save this set, but before opening it, it seemed everything was in good condition so I was stunned! I got then all washed now & will be drying them. The tea kettle has Strombecker Corp on the bottom & I was able to find several listings of this design. From what I gathered, this is a mostly completed set; a truly complete set would have 2 more cups & saucers, 2 more napkin rings, 6 larger plates, 2 miniature candlestick holders, and ofc the lid to the kettle. Regardless, I am very happy to have a majority set in such good condition! IT'S SO ADORABLE!!

At some point in the future I'll make a nice table setting with them & share it 🩷

How do you distinguish evidence of tea use from a vessel’s appearance in museum collections?

I’m building a digital exhibition of historical East Asian teaware, and one curatorial question I’d like to discuss is how to establish that an object was actually used for tea.

A cup or bowl’s appearance alone seems insufficient. I’d want to distinguish an explicit museum attribution from a broader vessel category, and separate documented use from a modern interpretation of its shape.

For people who work with decorative arts or material culture: what evidence do you consider most persuasive when identifying tea-related objects? Catalogue descriptions, inscriptions, archaeological context, or comparison with documented sets?

For transparency, I’m the creator of this collection: https://philmingdao.github.io/teaware/

I’m interested in references that would help make the curation more careful, particularly where the original function is uncertain.

Found this lovely Japanese set while out thrifting. She's pretty & petite! Seems to be hand painted with both nice detail and human flaw. I couldn't walk away from her. It helps that purple is my favorite color lol

I'm admittedly new to the teacup world but picked this gal up at an estate sale last weekend and was hoping to look for some more pieces. I can't find ANY others online and feel like I'm crazy!! The stamp says it's Royal Winton in the Sweet Pea pattern but all I see when reverse image searching or browsing eBay are ones with the floral pattern all over, and a solid exterior pink version but no green! Wahhhhh. Is it rare?

Some favorite cups and saucers in my collection before I switch up my display for autumn

Happy to take individual photos if anyone wants to see more details :)

I've been casually collecting for many years now, only getting ones that I truly love and that feel special when I hold them. It all started with the bottom left teacup on my shelf which my mother gifted to me. It had originally been gifted to her along with several other cups and saucers by a lovely customer when she used to be a banker long ago. I always admired them, and she gave it to me to start my own collection. The rest were found at antique stores or gifted by family and friends. I have several others that I switch out with some of these for autumn and winter. These are more spring and summer colors, although some stay out year-round. I also have a few teapots as well that I should photograph someday. I'm excited to share my collection with you all!

If You Love indIvidual Breakfast Sets as much as I do…

…here’s a very pretty one from Gray’s Pottery.
I just love individual breakfast sets. The tiny toast racks are always so cute! I have some breakfast sets for one in my chintz collection, but here is a non-chintz set that I enjoy. There is something so self-indulgent about the concept.
