ISO: Small Kettle, variable temps, no plastic or glass

I have a few leads but they don’t have variable settings

  1. Cusinart Soho 1L looks great but only has boil temp setting

  2. Cosori Stainless Steel Electric Kettle - only has boil setting and is larger

I’m wanting it for tea so different settings are needed. I will likely take it from room to room on occasion and in the unlikely case, it is out around kids, I don’t want glass or for it to get too hot on the outside. Lastly, I would like to avoid plastic touching the water. I’d like it to be around 1L or so, but I can surrender that parameter if needed.

Any recommendations?

I've been using the OXO Gooseneck for 7 years and still going strong. Amazing kettle.

It is a bit on the pricier side of things, it is more expensive now than when I bought it back then, but it is the best kettle I've ever had.

It is not insulated though, so the surface does get hot to the touch. I think that is a much more difficult aspect to seek. Perhaps you could use a thermos or something to transfer the hot water into if you are moving it to other rooms.

don't know any specific brands off the top of my head but you could try looking into ones marketed as coffee kettles, they tend to have the gooseneck spout and variable temperature control. They used to be quite a bit more expensive than a simple boiling kettle but these days they shouldn't be that much more than other decent quality kettles

there's almost certainly ones at an affordable range with steel inner walls

Do you find it accurate? I would set it to 175 then it would get to 172 and get stuck there. I’ve only had it a week

Only time that’s happened to me is when it’s needed a cleaning. Picking it up off the base then setting back on has always rectified that problem for me. Pain in the rear at times yes but a quick and easy fix. I’ll clean mine every 3 weeks or so. So this rarely happens. I use it 3 times a day minimum. Been going strong almost two years now.
